As Africa navigates its journey toward sustainable energy transformation, the spotlight turns to leaders who have consistently driven innovation and policy alignment across the continent’s energy value chain. One of such visionary leaders is Mr. Anibor Kragha, a prominent figure in Africa’s energy sector and the Executive Secretary of the African Refiners & Distributors Association (ARDA) — a position he has held since April 2020.
Mr. Kragha is set to feature at the Africa Energy Technology Conference 2025, scheduled to take place from May 27 to May 29, 2025, at the prestigious Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, Ghana. Themed “Innovate, Invest, Implement: Revolutionized Financing for Sustainable Energy Sector Growth in Africa,” the conference will bring together key stakeholders, innovators, policymakers, and investors from across the globe to explore actionable strategies for financing and implementing clean and resilient energy systems across Africa.
Before assuming his current role at ARDA, Mr. Kragha served as the association’s President from March 2019 to March 2020, where he spearheaded strategic dialogues focused on harmonizing fuel specifications and infrastructure upgrades across the continent. Under his stewardship, ARDA has evolved into a powerful platform advocating for energy sustainability, environmental responsibility, and regional collaboration in refining and distribution.
Mr. Kragha’s impact in the sector traces back to his tenure at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), where he held key leadership roles between 2015 and 2019. As Group General Manager, Treasury, and later Chief Operating Officer for Refining & Petrochemicals, he played a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations and refining modernization initiatives aimed at boosting Nigeria’s downstream efficiency and global competitiveness.
Prior to his engagement at NNPC, Mr. Kragha built a formidable career with Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), part of the ExxonMobil family, where he spent over a decade. His tenure at ExxonMobil saw him take on various high-impact roles across upstream finance, audit, and commercial operations. Notably, he served as Upstream Treasurer for ExxonMobil Affiliates in Nigeria from 2012 to 2015, contributing to critical financial management strategies for oil and gas projects in the region.
Mr. Kragha’s academic foundation is as impressive as his professional portfolio. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science in Plastics Engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, and dual Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business Administration (MBA) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) — one of the world’s foremost institutions for science, technology, and innovation.
At the upcoming Africa Energy Technology Conference 2025, Mr. Kragha is expected to share his invaluable insights on financing models, investment frameworks, and implementation strategies crucial for driving sustainable energy projects across Africa. His deep understanding of refining, finance, and regulatory policy places him at the nexus of the transition towards cleaner fuels and climate-resilient infrastructure.
As the continent stands at the cusp of a renewable revolution, leaders like Mr. Kragha remind us of the importance of integrated, well-financed, and technically sound energy policies that can uplift economies and transform lives.
