Driving sustainable industrial growth requires proactive diplomacy and strong cross-border alliances. In line with this mandate, the Africa Energy Technology Centre (AETC) recently paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Accra to explore practical pathways for bilateral cooperation in energy transition, industrial technology transfer, and youth vocational training.
Led by Founder and President Ms. Emelia Akumah, the meeting established a strategic dialogue aimed at unlocking bilateral cooperation, accelerating technology transfer, and driving youth-focused capacity building across the energy value chain. The AETC delegation was received on behalf of the Ambassador by Ms. Beata Matusiková, Head of the Trade and Economic Section at the Embassy.
Welcoming Ms. Akumah, Ms. Matusiková commended the Centre’s dynamic leadership and strategic positioning across Africa’s energy ecosystem. The exchange quickly advanced to identifying concrete synergies where Czech industrial expertise, machinery manufacturing, and technological solutions intersect with Africa’s clean energy transition.
During the discussions, Ms. Akumah shared the core vision of the Africa Energy Technology Centre: transitioning Africa from being a primary consumer of imported energy technologies into a self-reliant producer, innovator, and exporter of home-grown energy solutions. Central to this vision are AETC’s flagship initiatives, notably the Ghana National Solar Prosumer Initiative, the Smart Energy Technology Hub, and the Youth Energy Entrepreneurship Incubation Initiative (YEEIP).
A primary area of mutual interest focused on youth empowerment, technical capacity building, and vocational pathways. In presenting the YEEIP framework, Ms. Akumah emphasized that the initiative targets empowering 1,500 young people in Ghana over a three-year pilot phase before scaling across partner countries on the continent. She noted that the initiative focuses on equipping youth with hands-on, practical technical skills, anchored heavily on robust TVET systems designed to prepare participants directly for industry demands rather than relying solely on conventional tertiary pathways.
Ms. Matusiková affirmed the Embassy’s strong alignment with technical skills development, enterprise support, and business-to-business (B2B) trade facilitation. Drawing on the Czech Republic’s rich industrial heritage and engineering excellence, discussions explored leveraging Czech technical training methodologies and institutional knowledge to support local workforce development and renewable infrastructure integration in Ghana.
The dialogue also laid the groundwork for future collaboration surrounding the upcoming Africa Energy Technology Conference, trade missions, and bilateral investment roadshows. Both parties underscored the importance of early stakeholder coordination to facilitate high-level Czech business delegations, match technology providers with local energy projects, and create bankable public-private partnerships.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to maintain active engagement, exchange technical frameworks, and structure actionable cooperation mechanisms in the months ahead. For the Africa Energy Technology Centre, this diplomatic engagement marks another pivotal step toward bridging global industrial partnerships with Africa’s clean energy future.
