Refining Africa’s Future: CORAN Chairman Momoh Jimoh Oyarekhua to Speak at AETC 2026

ACCRA, GHANA – The Africa Energy Technology Centre (AETC) is proud to announce that Momoh Jimoh Oyarekhua, Chairman of the Crude Oil Refiners Association of Nigeria (CORAN) and Chairman of OPAC Refineries, will join the prestigious lineup of speakers for the Africa Energy Technology Conference (AETC) 2026.

Scheduled for May 19–21, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, AETC 2026 will be held under the theme: “From Borders to Bridges: Driving Intra-African Trade and Development through Energy & Technology Services.”

A Champion for Energy Independence

As the leader of CORAN, Mr. Oyarekhua has been at the forefront of advocating for Africa’s refining self-sufficiency. His participation comes at a critical juncture as the continent seeks to transition from being a primary exporter of raw crude to a hub for value-added petroleum products.

At AETC 2026, Mr. Oyarekhua will share his deep expertise on:

  • The Role of Modular Refineries: Leveraging technology to decentralize energy production and secure domestic supply.
  • Intra-African Trade: How localized refining can reduce import dependency and fuel the AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area) goals.
  • Investment & Policy: Navigating the regulatory frameworks required to attract capital into Africa’s downstream sector.

Flipping the Narrative

“Our mission at AETC is to position Africa as a creator of energy technology, not just a consumer,” says Emelia Akumah, Founder and President of AETC. “Momoh Jimoh Oyarekhua embodies this vision. His work in the Nigerian refining space is a blueprint for how indigenous innovation and strategic leadership can solve continental energy challenges.”
