Isaac Simpson

Isaac Simpson is Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Advisory and Equity Capital Markets in the Corporate and Investment Banking division of Stanbic Bank Ghana, a member of Standard Bank Group. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Africa Energy Technology Centre (AETC).

Simpson began his career in advisory work. He advised on risk analytics at Deloitte West Africa and then joined the Deals Advisory unit of KPMG Ghana as a consultant, working on mergers and acquisitions, company valuations and financial due diligence. He studied at Harvard Business School from 2020 to 2022.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he graduated magna cum laude. He earned the CFA charter in 2016, having passed all three levels at the first attempt while also passing several Society of Actuaries examinations.

His focus areas include sustainable and energy finance, capital markets and financial regulation. At the 2024 Africa Energy Technology Conference he argued that government, the private sector and non-governmental organisations must share responsibility for the policies that accelerate sustainable finance, and said Stanbic would support smaller solar and energy companies with pre-financing and structures designed for each client. On the 2026 conference’s plenary on financing cross-border infrastructure he argued that the goal is a capital structure that keeps a project viable, allocating risk efficiently among investors so that it is sustainable as well as financed. In July 2025 he called for an inter-agency task force to give Ghana a full legal framework for crypto assets, warning that Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa were already ahead. In February 2026 he spoke at the Graphic Business and Stanbic Bank Breakfast Meeting on why resetting Ghana’s urban transport system is an economic necessity.
