The Strategic Story
Ghana is building a landmark artificial intelligence hub at Ningo-Prampram, anchored by global technology companies that have committed to clean energy. That commitment raises a defining question: who guarantees the clean, reliable power such infrastructure needs? ASETIH is designed as the answer, not competing with the AI hub but completing it.
Positioned this way, ASETIH is more than a building. It is the institution that would make Ghana's technology ecosystem investable at scale, and a continental centre of excellence for the energy transition.
Governance
For international partners, governance is the first question. ASETIH is designed as a permanent, independent institution with a presidential patron for legitimacy, a governing board spanning government, the private sector and multilateral partners, and the Centre as founding partner. These structures are in formation, not in operation.
University Partnerships
The design includes a university partnership model: research collaboration, curriculum development, student exchange and startup mentorship networks with world-class institutions, anchored by Ghanaian universities. These are target partnerships, not existing agreements.
The Road Ahead
Phase 1, years one and two. Endorsement, governance, expansion of the academy, first memoranda of understanding.
Phase 2, years three to five. The demonstration zone, the incubator, co-investment and certification at scale.
Phase 3, year five onwards. A self-sustaining institution, and replication across the continent.
