Robert Laryea

Robert Laryea is Managing Partner of RMC Management Consultants (Recount Management Consultants), a business advisory firm founded in Dubai in 2017. RMC offers strategy, corporate services, digital solutions, research, training, investment and compliance services, with a focus on financial advisory, transformation and turnaround work. Laryea is also the founder of Sundae, an AI platform that gives businesses AI-powered insights into how they are run. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Africa Energy Technology Centre (AETC).

Laryea has worked extensively across the Middle East and Africa in senior finance roles with local and multinational companies, specialising in finance transformation, investments, treasury, corporate turnaround and business restructuring. He was Assistant Vice President and Regional Controller for MetLife’s Middle East and Africa region and Head of Financial Accounting at Transguard Group. He also held senior audit roles with PwC in Ghana, Abu Dhabi and the wider United Arab Emirates, and with KPMG. His work has included building centralised finance operations across several countries.

He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and holds an Executive MBA from London Business School and a bachelor’s degree in business administration (accounting) from the University of Ghana Business School.

Laryea speaks on finance leadership and on the financing of Africa’s energy projects. In 2025 he gave a keynote on leading finance transformation at the Institute of Management Accountants’ Finance Excellence and Leadership Summit for the Middle East and Africa, arguing that transformation programmes fail through gaps in leadership and ownership rather than in technology. He spoke at the Africa Energy Technology Conference in 2024, 2025 and 2026. On the 2026 plenary on financing cross-border infrastructure he argued that signalling matters more than quantity: showing international lenders that there is local or regional appetite for a project, and local uptake of it, is what draws their interest.
